Round shaped share chair [*my_design&event]
I started to make this year's my chair.
And I tryed to design have an elegant round shaped one.
But the elegance was incompatible with my gimmick.
At last, it became a flop...

I need my elegance :-P
This year's share chair images [*my_design&event]
This image was rendered as the final plan.
I printed out 1/1 scale draft by the 3DCG data.
Engineer used the draft as a guide for bending stainless steel pipes.

The animation for explanation about the transformming.
I showed the movie at Tokyo Designer' s Week exhibition ( used PSP ).

And I made such as 5 colours name cards at last.
Last one is not for me but for the factory made the chair.

Many peoples took it and got access the blog. thanks!
Some children took all of the colour's :-)

Factory Lesson. [*my_design&event]
One month ago, I tried to find out a factory
to order my designed chair (again).
and at last, Only one factory accepted.
Their name is TOKYUSHU GIKEN at Saitama near Tokyo.
I haven't known that realize my chair was possible or not.
For example, normaly simple pipe chair only have 6 or 8 curves,
but my chair have 408 small curves in one chair.
But they answered me possibile to build it
and noticed some problems.
I tried to solve the problems, drafted the design again
and printed out it by real size
to "A0" size big paper for them ( at Kinko's ).
Basically it is very simple the workings of
a pipe bending machine, similarly.
But may be engineer's skill, experience and motivation
make the difference what they can or not.
TOKUSHU GIKEN have experiences triumphed over some hard works
to bend complex Exhaust for F1 machine, Liquid propellant Rocket Engine...etc
And now, they give me their art for the chair.
My plan gone with Their bending works!

Well, Next week the chair show up at

Next Issue. [*my_design&event]
I should inform I passed a review to exhibit my chair
at Tokyo Designers Week'06 Pro Exhibition.
Designer's Association sended me the result before the deadline to
pay the Without Predictable Entory fee for the examination.
Thank if you minded about my trouble with Designer's Association's Issue.
OK, I paid $250 (30,000, yen) for an participation fee to exhibition.
But they demand not only the entory fee but to become their member
fee was never wrote any of their Documentation. I paid more $250 ! :-(
Well, $500 is not so expencive for such as Exhibition.
But I think they should present all of the cost and the risk in advance,
and never change the rule after announced it.
Now, I should find out an factory to make my chair.
That's my next issue :-)
I have been hearing to some factory by e-mail, but most factory
didn't give me the return. Only 3 factory gave me the return, but 2
factory had a hard limitation to make my chair and continueing to
talk with only one factory now. (To be continued... )

無事今年もTDWに出品が決まりました。
おさわがせしました。
しかーし。完全にすっきりはせーん! いまいちなっとくはできーん!
でも今はまず職人さがーす。( 去年も同じ事言ってたような... )
ISSUE in TDW06 [*my_design&event]
I already sended my design to Design Association
for Tokyo Designer's Week Exhibition 2006, I sald.
Design Association said that( in their contract and guidance web page, )
they would screen applicants and
send their judgement to us, at mid of August,
and AFTER THAT they would charge 31,500,-yen
for the showing fee to the candidate.
But now, they not only send the outcome yet,
But they even demanded the fee for their judgement!
They said that when I can pass it, we use it to the showing fee.
But I can't, they woldn't return the Showing fee with no showing. WHY!?
I appeal them to keep their contract.
Now, Please verify my screen dump and their Webpage is
one and the same content.
The capture may help us.

my chair, latest. [*my_design&event]
I started to design a chair, again.
Already I sended the original design
to exhibit it at Tokyo Designer's Week .
I don't know I can exhibit it cos I couldn't to take a
enough time to make the documentation about it.
But if I can pass it, I'll make it !

By the way, this year's pro exhibition's theme is LOVE.
It's Lovely??
appeared on a magazine! (雑誌のったゼ) [*my_design&event]
a happy new year!
I should say thank you for all of my friend and you.
I hope to keep a lot kind of the relationship as last year.
in last year, not only I changed my occupation, but I made a chair privately.
In end of the year, my designed chair appeared on a website and magazine.
one is JDN.
the website is famous in informations and reports about design and that's events in japan.
and one of the writer, Akiko Kuroda-san continue to write reports about japanese design festival.
Today, Japanese funiture market remains quite active but the distributor is in Europe.
and Europe funiture exhibitions is very important more than Japanese exhibitions for japanese designer.
but Kuroda-san show us distinctive japanese funitures and events.
She explain about my chair in her tokyo designer's week's report.
http://www.japandesign.ne.jp/HTM/REPORT/nippon_kagu/
and appeared at Shoten-Kenchiku too.

the magazine is famous about Shop interior design and archtecture.
if you need to know about Japanese Shop archtecture, that's very different from other country and that's mixture of Europe, US, Asia, traditional Japanese and latest trend, you should check the magazine.
Shioda-san is Writer/Editor @ Shoten-kenchiku wrote about design event at tokyo, and mantioned my chair with the picture.
http://www.shotenkenchiku.com/Monthly/0601/0601.html
Thank you, Kuroda-san and Shioda-san.
and thank you every one!
I hope your best at this year too.
I'll keep to talk about my chair in next my articles.
ordered my chair. [*my_design&event]
When I was allowed to exhibit my design, I thought how to make my chair.
First, I wanted to make it myself, but i didn't have an enough skill.
Next I tryed to find out an artisan people to order it.
and I went to many of the order funiture shop to asked about it.
Many peoples said NO cos the chair design had a problem at the toughness.
Funiture artisans have a know-how to make a strong chair.
But my chair is too strange to make enough strong chair for our sitting weight.
most all chair have a seat plate(?)
and my chair have 8 frames dispersed the sitting weight for 16 feet, instead of the plate. No one have the know-how to make no plate and 16 feet chair.
In their toughness test, they throw their chair at special wall and floor, again and again.
But my chair will broken to pieces at first attack in the test.
Yes, I didn't want to toughness for my chair, because I wanted show my design and thinking.
and OK if we couldn't sit down at my chair.
But most of artisan looked never made such as seatless chair.
(maybe they sweat by their artisan spirit).
some people helped me,and few artisan peoples gave me a positive investigation. I was so grad that. thanks.
And at last, I could order it for an company
there was very near from my office, CASA MATERIA. happy!
but their contracting factory was in Hokkaido very north from Tokyo. That's too far to contact the factory's artisan peoples directly.
I afraid I didn't now they were welcomingly to make my chair :-)
At once I made plans and specifications document to contact them.

communicate with "share chair" [*my_design&event]
I'm challenging to write my blog in english, wow!
I'm not a designer, but I wanted to try to realize my idea for a chair.
I made the chair named "share chair".
and exhibited at Tokyo Designer's week 02-06 Nov.
the chair have a transforming function from single use to doubles.
when you sit down the chair and anyone came here,
you pull the side handle of the chair each other.

you can expand the space and share the world
with the impressive interaction.
I wanted to make a communicative experience by the interaction.
I only focused to such as communication and
the chair wasn't designed so as a beautiful shape,
but I'm glad many people said the design was impressive. thank you !
